\n\tTaylor Swift was inspired by Justin Vernon<\/a> and Aaron Dessner<\/a>\u2018s work for Big Red Machine when she made Folklore<\/a><\/em>. In an interview with Apple Music, the Bon Iver<\/a> frontman shared the story of how he and Dessner came to work with Swift on the pandemic era-defining album.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAll the glory goes to Taylor for hearing, as a songwriter, what music she wants to make,\u201d Vernon said of Folklore<\/em>. \u201cBut those songs are Big Red Machine demos.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tVernon explained that in early 2020, he had asked Dessner \u2014 with whom he forms Big Red Machine \u2014 to join Bon Iver on a European tour as a replacement guitarist and to \u201cdick around\u201d to play some of Big Red Machine\u2019s songs during shows. But then, the pandemic happened, and everyone was forced to quarantine.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAaron was going on Instagram Live and just playing stuff he\u2019s been working on because I think we just needed to share. And Taylor heard it,\u201d Vernon explained of the demos. \u201cAnd her genius was working with the genius of Aaron Dessner on making the strongest set of lyrics and songwriting that she\u2019s ever had, really.\u201d<\/p>\n
