\n\tThe Mayor of San Francisco<\/a> is ready to welcome Deadheads to the Grateful Dead<\/a>\u2018s birthplace: the Bay Area. <\/p>\n \n\tOn Monday, Mayor Daniel Lurie posted a video of himself in front of Golden Gate Park, announcing that Dead & Company will be performing there for three consecutive shows in August to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Grateful Dead.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe have some really big news,\u201d Lurie said in the short video. \u201cDead & Co. Three shows. August 1, 2 and 3. Right here in the city that is the home of the Grateful Dead.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWhat better way to celebrate?\u201d he continued. \u201cWe\u2019ll see you out here in August.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tLurie\u2019s post teased that the band will be announcing the shows \u201csoon,\u201d although local outlet San Francisco<\/em> Standard<\/em><\/a> <\/em>reports that the band\u2019s events will still need to be approved by the Recreation and Park Commission at a meeting on Thursday.<\/p>\n \n\tAccording to the Standard<\/em>, the band is expected to draw up to 60,000 fans for each show. While it\u2019s Dead & Company\u2019s first show there, Grateful Dead played at least 14 times at the San Francisco park, including in 1967 for the Summer of Love, and in 1991 to honor the late Bill Graham. <\/p>\n \n\tA rep for Dead & Company did not provide comment.<\/p>\n
