Roosevelt in 1945. Following her performance, she posted the aforementioned video as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@babynezza\/video\/7516015340464262431?lang=en\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">another clip<\/a>, where she explained that she was still shaken up and emotional over the experience. She added that \u201cwith everything happening,\u201d she \u201cfelt like I needed to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tOn Saturday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/politics-news\/anti-trump-no-kings-protests-1235365019\/\">\u201cNo Kings\u201d Day demonstrations<\/a> were taking place in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/los-angeles\/\" id=\"auto-tag_los-angeles\" data-tag=\"los-angeles\">Los Angeles<\/a> and in 2000 different locations around the country, protesting President Donald Trump. Trump deployed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/politics-news\/trump-tom-homan-national-guard-la-protests-ice-1235358478\/\">the National Guard<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/politics-news\/trump-marines-los-angeles-no-kings-protests-1235364607\/\">the Marines<\/a>\u00a0last week during protests in Los Angeles opposing aggressive raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).\u00a0It was also the night Trump held a very expensive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/politics-features\/trump-military-birthday-parade-dc-failure-1235365040\/\">military birthday parade<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI had the honor of singing the national anthem at the Dodgers game in Los Angeles \u2014 but I chose to sing it in Spanish. Despite being told I couldn\u2019t, I went forward anyway, because I believe representation matters,\u201d she said in a statement to <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>. She added, \u201dFor anyone clutching their pearls, it\u2019s important to know: in 1945, President Franklin D. Roosevelt himself commissioned an official Spanish version of \u2018The Star-Spangled Banner\u2019 to honor and include Latin Americans. That version \u2014 \u2018El Pend\u00f3n Estrellado\u2019 \u2014 tells the exact same story, word for word in meaning, and is set to the exact same melody. The heart of the anthem does not change with the language. So why was I told I couldn\u2019t sing it? I sang in Spanish because America\u2019s story includes all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tA rep for the Dodgers organization did not immediately return <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s request for comment.
