After sharing the mini-album Weft<\/em><\/a> in January, Blue Lake<\/a>\u2019s Jason Dungan has announced his next studio LP. Out October 3 via Tonal Union<\/a>, The Animal<\/em><\/a> is the Copenhagen-based musician\u2019s proper follow-up to to 2023\u2019s Sun Arcs<\/em><\/a> and his first project recorded with a full band in a studio. The album was produced by Dungan and Aske Zidore and mixed by War on Drugs<\/a> collaborator Jeff Zeigler<\/a>. Listen to lead single \u201cCut Paper<\/a>\u201d below.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m quite fascinated in thinking about humans more as part of the animal environment and not as something that\u2019s so separated into a \u2018human\u2019 realm, or sitting on top of a hierarchical pyramid,\u201d Dungan said of his new album\u2019s title in a press statement. \u201cSo the Animal is also me, or us\u2014that we are just living, existing, in the same way as a piece of moss or a sparrow or a cow.\u201d<\/p>\n Dungan continued: \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s possible now to think about nature as a pure or isolated thing. Being around animals in this setting, I think about how they communicate with each other, forge relationships, and navigate the city, but all without language.
