\n\tBob Vylan<\/a>\u2018s 2024 album Humble as the Sun<\/em> popped back on to the U.K. charts last week following the band\u2019s controversial set at Glastonbury<\/a>. Frontman Bobby Vylan celebrated the news on X over the weekend, noting that the music industry needs \u201cartists that speak up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBan Bob Vylan?\u201d he wrote. \u201cThe people said \u2018Nah.\u2019 We need artists that speak up. Our album \u2018Humble As The Sun\u2019 is back in the charts and, as an independent band releasing music on our own label, it shows the power of the people. You can\u2019t get dropped if you own the label. Thank you all!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an accompanying image, Vylan shared that Humble as the Sun<\/em> is currently at the top of the U.K. hip-hop and R&B albums chart. It also reached No. 7 on the album downloads chart and No. 8 on the independent albums chart.<\/p>\n

\n\tBob Vylan has been in the spotlight since their performance at Glastonbury, where the group led the crowd in chanting, \u201cFree, free\u00a0Palestine,\u201d as well as \u201cDeath, death to the IDF,\u201d during their set. The duo, who played ahead of Kneecap on the West Holts stage, was quickly denounced<\/a> on social media by festival boss Emily Eavis, with organizers saying they were \u201cappalled\u201d by the comments.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cGlastonbury Festival was created in 1970 as a place for people to come together and rejoice in music, the arts and the best of human endeavour,\u201d the festival said in a statement. \u201cAs a festival, we stand against all forms of war and terrorism. We will always believe in \u2013 and actively campaign for \u2013 hope, unity, peace and love.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSince Glastonbury Bob Vylan have been removed<\/a> from the lineup at England\u2019s\u00a0Radar Festival\u00a0and France\u2019s Kave Fest. The duo\u2019s\u00a0U.S. visas were revoked\u00a0<\/a>ahead of their North America tour, and they were also dropped by the United Talent Agency. Kave Fest in particular pointed to the agency split as the reasoning behind Bob Vylan being removed from the lineup. In addition, Bob Vylan have been blocked from opening for the U.S.-based band Gogol Bordello in Germany later this year by the\u00a0Live Music Hall\u00a0venue.<\/p>\n

\n\tBob Vylan responded to the uproar<\/a> by saying the controversy around the band is \u201cdistraction from the real story.\u201d \u201cWe are not for the death of Jews, Arabs or any other race or group of people. We are for the dismantling of a violent military machine,\u201d the duo said on Instagram. \u201cA machine whose own soldiers were told to use \u2018unnecessary lethal force\u2019 against innocent civilians waiting for aid. A machine that has destroyed much of Gaza. We, like those in the spotlight before us, are not the story. We are a distraction from the story. And whatever sanctions we receive will be a distraction.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
