Jeff Lynne<\/a> performed the opening show of ELO<\/a>\u2019s brief farewell tour without playing guitar \u2013 because he\u2019d broken his left hand.<\/p>\n

The veteran artist, 77, still delivered a 22-song set at the Utilita Arena in his hometown of Birmingham, England, on July 5 \u2013 the first of two appearances at the venue as part of\u00a0the Over And Out Tour.<\/p>\n

Dhani Harrison guested on two Traveling Wilburys<\/a> songs \u2013 \u201cHandle With Care\u201d and \u201cEnd of the Line\u201d \u2013 while the show also featured a series of ELO classics and The Move<\/a>\u2019s \u201cDo Ya.\u201d The full set list and videos can be seen below.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had a guitar in my hand all my life, but not tonight,\u201d Lynne told the audience, who offered audible support. He added: \u201cNothing would keep me away from you.\u201d<\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t reveal details of how he\u2019d sustained the injury, although some fans\u2019 social media posts suggested a taxi door was to blame.<\/p>\n

Jeff Lynne\u2019s ELO will perform in Manchester on July 9 before bowing out at London\u2019s Hyde Park on July 13 \u2013 the scene of their live reactivation in 2014. \u201cMy return to touring began at Hyde Park,\u201d the bandleader said when the show was announced last year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems like the perfect place to do our final show. We couldn\u2019t be more excited to share this special night in London with our UK fans. As the song goes, \u2018We\u2019re gonna do it one more time!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
