Jay Som<\/a> is back with her first new album in six years. Belong<\/em><\/a> is out October 10 via Polyvinyl<\/a>. For the follow-up to 2019\u2019s Anak Ko<\/em><\/a>, Melina Duterte tapped Paramore<\/a>\u2019s Hayley Williams<\/a>, Mini Trees\u2019 Lexi Vega, and Jimmy Eat World<\/a>\u2019s Jim Adkins to contribute guest vocal turns.<\/p>\n Today, Duterte has shared two songs from the album: the Adkins-featuring \u201cFloat<\/a>\u201d and \u201cA Million Reasons Why<\/a>.\u201d Watch the Nina Ljeti<\/a>\u2013directed music video for \u201cFloat,\u201d which pays homage to Jimmy Eat World\u2019s timeless \u201cThe Middle\u201d clip, below. Hear \u201cA Million Reasons Why\u201d below, too.<\/p>\n \u201cThis song is about desperately trying to hold on to past versions of yourself for self preservation,\u201d Duterte said of \u201cFloat\u201d in a press statement. \u201cThe fear of the unknown is so overwhelming that sometimes the best solution is to sit with it instead of fighting or running from it.\u201d<\/p>\n Since the release of Anak Ko<\/em>, Duterte has collaborated with Troye Sivan<\/a>, Anjimile<\/a>, and, as Bachelor<\/a>, Palehound<\/a>\u2019s El Kempner. She also worked as a producer and engineer on Boygenius<\/a>\u2019 The Record<\/em><\/a> and Lucy Dacus<\/a>\u2019 Forever Is a Feeling<\/em><\/a> and contributed to the soundtrack for Jane Schoenbrun\u2019s film I Saw the TV Glow<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n After supporting Dacus on tour this summer, Duterte will kick off her own run of headlining dates across Europe, North America and the United Kingdom, including stops at Pitchfork Music Festival Paris<\/a> and Pitchfork Music Festival London<\/a>.
