On Thursday, the Australian star announced that they will release their third album, <em>Dream Ride<\/em>, on Sept. 5 inspired by the sound of the era \u2014 and channeling an alter ego they\u2019re nicknaming \u201cButch Springsteen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cWhen diving in and writing this record, I was sonically captivated by the \u201980s. I love the use of reverb, the drum tones, all the sonics, the musicality, the soloing, and big drum moments,\u201d G Flip said in a press statement. \u201cI also really wanted to make a world to accompany the music and storytelling. I kept asking myself, \u2018Who would I have been in the 80\u2019s? What would I wear, what haircut would I have, and what car would I drive?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThey add: \u201cThe answer is Butch Springsteen, the masc lesbian, non-binary, drumming, singing pop star that never existed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tG Flip explained that <em>Dream Ride<\/em> was born after many late-night drives to the studio, which inspired car-themed lyrics in the songs they were creating. \u201cI also love old cars and totally wanted to drive a Barracuda around,\u201d they admit.
