Comedian, actor, and musician Fred Armisen<\/a> has announced an album of sound effects. It\u2019s called 100 Sound Effects<\/em><\/a>, and it actually features 101 sound effects. You\u2019ll be able to hear all of them when Drag City<\/a> releases the album on September 26, but, for now, check out \u201cMusic Venues,\u201d which collects seven sound effects.<\/p>\n The seven sound effects on \u201cMusic Venues\u201d are: \u201cNeedle on Record<\/a>,\u201d \u201cDrum Sound Check at Medium Sized Venue<\/a>,\u201d \u201cGuitar Tuned but Still Somehow Out of Tune<\/a>,\u201d \u201cBand Sound Check Sound Guy and Band Agreeing for Too Long<\/a>,\u201d \u201cRomanian Crowd at Rock Club Shouting for an Encore<\/a>,\u201d \u201cSparsely Attended Show Encore With Someone Shouting \u2018Where\u2019s Jim?\u2019<\/a>,\u201d and \u201cMusic Venue Employee Kicking Everyone Out While Throwing Away Bottles<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n According to a press release, \u201chelp and inspiration\u201d on 100 Sound Effects<\/em> came from Mary Lynn Rajskub, Amber Coffman, Tim Heidecker, Riki Lindhome, and Alice Carbone Tench. Additionally, Armisen is dedicating his album to the late Steve Albini.<\/p>\n \u201cI was thinking about haunted house sound effects albums and how fun those seemed to record. I wanted to do it at Steve Albini\u2019s studio in Chicago, Electrical Audio, but since this wasn\u2019t a collection of songs and I didn\u2019t know how long it was going to take, I needed to do this where I live, in Los Angeles,\u201d Armisen explained. \u201cI told Steve what I was doing and asked if he knew of any engineers I could work with in L.A. He was very excited about the idea and asked Dave Grohl who might be available to help. Dave recommended Darrell Thorp, and we started working at Studio 606, and then later Sunset Sound. Darrell was really inventive and a lot of fun to work with. Because Steve was so instrumental in making this happen, I dedicate the album to his memory. I miss him every day.\u201d<\/p>\n Armisen is going on a short tour in September called the Comedy for Musicians but Everyone Is Welcome Tour. He also some upcoming shows with John Mulaney (and fellow openers Mike Birbiglia and Nick Kroll) and a pair of events<\/a> with his former Portlandia<\/em> co-star, Carrie Brownstein.
