So when it feels like your voice is being borrowed, it strikes a deeply personal chord.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Kim Carnes Remains Proud of Magic She Brought to \u2018Bette Davis Eyes\u2019<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cBette Davis Eyes\u201d was written by Donna Weiss and Jackie DeShannon in 1974, and released by DeShannon that year without making much impact. Carnes said: \u201cWhen Donna Weiss\u2026 first brought me the song in 1980, I saw a chance to make it my own.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201c[W]e recorded the entire track live in one take. No overdubs, no manipulation. What you hear on that record is what we played.
