He added, \u201cMy balance sucks. It\u2019s like being on a boat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn May, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/billy-joel-cancels-tour-normal-pressure-hydrocephalus-1235346714\/\">Joel canceled<\/a> the remainder of his tour \u2014 17 dates that were to take him through stadiums in North America and England \u2014 after receiving a diagnosis for normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH). The brain disorder is caused by the accumulation of excessive cerebrospinal fluid in the brain\u2019s ventricles, leading to a range of cognitive and physical problems, particularly issues with gait, coordination, and bladder control.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Billy Joel | Club Random\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5UhXgiKmllw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe disorder \u201ccan affect several brain-related abilities, including thinking and concentrating, memory, movement and more,\u201d \u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/my.clevelandclinic.org\/health\/diseases\/15849-normal-pressure-hydrocephalus-nph\">according to the Cleveland Clinic.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cThe symptoms of NPH look very much like those of dementia, but NPH is sometimes reversible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tWhile Joel told Maher that his condition is not yet \u201cfixed,\u201d he said, \u201cit\u2019s being worked on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tJoel explained that the disorder \u201cused to be called water on the brain. Now it\u2019s called hydrocephalus \u2014 normal pressure hydrocephalus.\u201d When asked what causes the disorder, Joel said, \u201cNobody knows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe musician\u2019s last concert on this tour run took place on Feb. 22 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Toward the end of the show, he fell on his back after throwing his microphone stand at a crew member. He planned on returning to the stage on July 5 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. \u201cWhile I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,\u201d he told fans in a statement.
