Billy Joel<\/a> has offered an update on his health after being diagnosed with a rare brain disorder<\/a> that forced him to cancel all scheduled tour dates.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel good,”\u00a0Joel said on a new episode of Bill Maher’s\u00a0Club Random Podcast<\/em>, which you can watch below. “They keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder, so it sounds a lot worse than what I\u2019m feeling.”<\/p>\n The Piano Man announced in May that he’d been diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, a disorder where excess\u00a0cerebrospinal fluid accumulates<\/a>\u00a0in the brain. Doctors said performing exacerbated his condition, “leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance.”<\/p>\n READ MORE:<\/strong> The Best Song From Every Billy Joel Album<\/a><\/p>\n These\u00a0complications led to Joel scrapping all of the concerts he had on the books.\u00a0“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience,”\u00a0he said in\u00a0a statement at the time, “and thank you for understanding.”<\/p>\n Joel further explained\u00a0the\u00a0confusion that often surrounds his condition and his initial thoughts on what had caused it.<\/p>\n “It used to be called water on the brain. Now it’s called hydrocephalus \u2014 normal pressure hydrocephalus,”\u00a0he\u00a0said.\u00a0“They don’t really know what causes it. It’s still being worked on,” told Maher.\u00a0“I feel fine. My balance sucks. It’s like being on a boat.”<\/p>\n Joel is currently promoting his new HBO documentary,\u00a0Billy Joel: And So It Goes<\/em><\/a>.
