On Saturday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/regina-spektor\/\" id=\"auto-tag_regina-spektor\" data-tag=\"regina-spektor\">Regina Spektor<\/a>\u2019s concert in Portland at Revolution Hall was disrupted after a handful of attendees yelled \u201cFree Palestine!\u201d and caught the attention of the singer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stereogum.com\/2317251\/regina-spektor-concert-interrupted-by-pro-palestine-protestors\/news\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">according to Stereogum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tSpektor, who is Jewish and emigrated from Russia when she was a child, has been public in her support of Israel. In October, on the anniversary of the day when Hamas led an attack from Gaza into Israel, including at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/hamas-israel-nova-music-festival-massacre-1234854306\/\">Israel\u2019s Nova Festival<\/a>, Spektor performed at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jta.org\/2024\/10\/07\/ny\/in-nyc-jews-gather-together-and-apart-for-prayer-and-protest-on-oct-7\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">pro-Israel gathering<\/a> in New York. In 2023, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ynetnews.com\/culture\/article\/bjlhzib76\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">rebuked Bj\u00f6rk<\/a> for her pro-Palestine post.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAs fan footage captured from the concert showed and posted by Stereogum, Spektor was onstage performing when someone yelled \u201cFree fucking Palestine!\u201d which disrupted the show, forcing the singer to stop performing and address the situation.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cYou\u2019re just yelling at a Jew,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t know what he thinks he\u2019s doing. I really appreciate the security.\u201d Many in the audience applauded and cheered in support of Spektor. \u201cWe had a really hard time last night, when I said, \u2018Shalom aleichem,\u2019\u201d a Hebrew phrase meaning \u201cpeace be upon you.\u201d Audience members responded with, \u201cAm Yisrael Chai,\u201d which translates to \u201cthe people of Israel live.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tSpektor attempted to locate the protestors in the crowd, asking, \u201cWhere are you?\u201d But another audience member told her they were \u201con his way out,\u201d per the footage. Spektor commented, \u201cI thought this was different than the internet. This is real life.\u201d The crowd shouted support for Spektor as another protester exclaimed, per Stereogum, \u201cI\u2019m watching dying children. That hurts.\u201d Spektor said, \u201cI think you should go because this is not the place for that conversation. I\u2019m a real person who came here to play music. If anybody wants to walk out, this is your chance. Does anybody else want to take a walk? Kneecap\u2019s Mo Chara faced a\u00a0terror charge\u00a0in the U.K. for allegedly displaying the Hezbollah flag and yelling, \u201cUp, Hamas, up Hezbollah,\u201d and \u201cThe only good Tory is a dead Tory\u201d at a November 2024 concert.
