That will change Sept. 17 when Gilmour\u2019s new concert film <em>Live at the Circus Maximus, Rome<\/em> hits cinemas and IMAX screens worldwide. Ticket sales begin August 6.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tFor the Blu-Ray\/DVD\/CD release on October 17, <em>Live at the Circus Maximus, Rome<\/em> will be paired with a second film that takes a broader look at the tour, <em>the Luck and Strange Concerts<\/em>. It\u2019s a compilation of 23 songs from throughout the entire <em>Luck and Strange<\/em> run. And for the true hardcores, there\u2019s also a super deluxe box featuring 11 discs, a 120-page book, a sheet of stickers, two postcards, and a poster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe <em>Luck and Strange<\/em> tour was Gilmour\u2019s first time hitting the road since 2016. He came back with a largely new band and a set that focused heavily on solo songs and tunes from his tenure as the leader of Pink Floyd. Prior to the tour, he initially flirted with the idea of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/david-gilmour-pink-floyd-roger-waters-123501425\">not playing anything from the Roger Waters years<\/a>. He eventually changed his mind.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cOne has to wake up to reality once in a while,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/david-gilmour-pink-floyd-roger-waters-123501425\">he told<em> Rolling Stone<\/em> in August 2024.<\/a> \u201cI think I will be doing one or two things from that time, but it just seems so long ago. I know people love them, and I love playing them. I\u2019ll be doing \u2018Wish You Were Here,\u2019 of course, I will. And some of the things that started with me anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn addition to \u201cWish You Were,\u201d the show also featured \u201cBreathe (In the Air),\u201d \u201cTime,\u201d \u201cFat Old Sun,\u201d \u201cThe Great Gig in the Sky,\u201d and \u201cComfortably Numb\u201d from the Water era. While promoting the tour, he made it clear once again that any sort of onstage reunion with Waters is simply impossible at this point. \u201cAbsolutely not,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2024\/oct\/03\/david-gilmour-the-rich-and-powerful-have-siphoned-off-the-majority-of-music-industry-money\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Gilmour told <em>The Guardian.<\/em><\/a> \u201cI tend to steer clear of people who actively support genocidal and autocratic dictators like Putin and Maduro. She sang background vocals throughout much of the show, and took over on lead for a beautiful rendition of \u201cBetween Two Points\u201d by the British indie pop duo the Montgolfier Brothers. The song is also a highlight of the Luck and Strange album.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cShe must have heard the song once or twice in her life on our playlists, but she didn\u2019t really know it at all,\u2019 Gilmour told <em>Rolling Stone.<\/em> \u201cI just gave her the lyrics on a piece of paper and stuck her in front of her mic. She\u2019s a true pro with the microphone, has been since she was three.
