My jeans are \u2026 bleee.\u201d (In the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sweeneydailyx\/status\/1948497621095477712\">actual ad<\/a>, Sweeney says \u201cblue.\u201d)<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tWhile there\u2019s good reason the \u201call press is good press\u201d maxim usually holds true, Doja\u2019s video \u2014 which has been viewed nearly 11 million times, and received 2.5 million likes in less than 24 hours \u2014 probably isn\u2019t the kind of extra viral exposure the marketing wizards behind the \u201cjeans\/genes\u201d campaign were hoping for. Then again, neither is the overall conversation around the \u201cSydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans\u201d ads.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe decision to center the promos around the \u201cjeans\u201d and \u201cgenes\u201d homophone has turned the campaign into a culture-war flashpoint. It\u2019s exacerbated by the fact that Sweeney was, through no fault of her own, already a culture-war flashpoint thanks to the weird, often creepy politicization of her body, especially by those on the right. (See, for example, the \u201ccommentary\u201d piece that ran in the <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nationalpost.com\/opinion\/amy-hamm-wokeness-is-no-match-for-sydney-sweeneys-undeniable-beauty\">National Post<\/a><\/em> last year with the opening line: \u201cAre Sydney Sweeney\u2019s breasts double-D harbingers of the death of woke?\u201d)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIt\u2019s no surprise, then, that pairing Sweeney \u2014 who has blonde hair and blue eyes \u2014 with the tagline \u201chas great jeans\/genes\u201d has led some on the left to accuse the campaign of subtly (or not-so-subtly) dog-whistling eugenics and white supremacy.
