Real Housewives of Dallas<\/em> alum D\u2019Andra Simmons is facing a deeply personal battle: Breast cancer.<\/p>\n

In an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday (July 29), the 56-year-old\u00a0shares with fans that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is already undergoing surgery.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t think I would be the recipient of care at the UTSW Simmons Cancer Center, my uncle Harold Simmons and his Foundation established almost 30 years ago,\u201d Simmons writes.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut now I have breast cancer,\u201d she continues.<\/p>\n

While she\u00a0doesn’t specify the stage or type of her cancer, Simmons invited fans inside her treatment journey via Instagram Stories<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She documented her packed medical schedule there \u2014 from radioactive seed localization to lymph node mapping, and finally, tumor removal surgery \u2014 calling it a “very busy, packed morning.”<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter today, I will add breast cancer survivor to a long list of life experiences,\u201d she shares.<\/p>\n

A Family History \u2014 and Family by Her Side<\/h3>\n

Simmons\u00a0says she\u2019s the third woman on her mother\u2019s side to be diagnosed with breast cancer. She\u2019s \u201ctruly grateful\u201d for the expert care team at her family\u2019s namesake facility.<\/p>\n

Her mother, Dee Simmons, appeared in a quiet moment from the hospital waiting room. Her husband, Jeremy Lock, kept her spirits up on the way there.<\/p>\n

At one point, Lock encouraged her with a cheeky, \u201cLet\u2019s get that s–t out of there,\u201d prompting Simmons to laugh and jokingly scold him on camera.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to everyone that has sent prayers and support to my family and me,\u201d she\u00a0writes in closing. \u201cWe appreciate it so very much and love having your support.\u201d<\/p>\n
