The band enlisted Nine Inch Nails’ Ilan Rubin as their new stickman<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
\n\tAfter parting<\/a> with Josh Freese<\/a>\u00a0back in May, the Foo Fighters\u00a0have enlisted Nine Inch Nails\u2019 Ilan Rubin as their next drummer. In an unexpected twist, Freese will join Nine Inch Nails on tour, both The Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/em> and Variety<\/a><\/em> confirmed.<\/p>\n \n\tRubin has been traveling with Nine Inch Nails since 2009, and was 32 when he became the youngest inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2020. The drummer has also collaborated with Paramore, Angels and Airwaves, and Danny Elfman. <\/p>\n \n\tThe decision arrives months after the Foo Fighters announced that Freese, who had been tapped to fill the vacancy<\/a>\u00a0left by the\u00a0late Taylor Hawkins<\/a>, was let go from the band. In a statement at the time, Freese said that the group had decided \u201cto go in a different direction with their drummer\u201d and that \u201cNo reason was given.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIn a post<\/a> shared to X, Nine Inch Nails appeared to confirm Freese\u2019s new role, sharing a photo of the drummer and writing, \u201cLet\u2019s fucking GO.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tEarlier this month, the Foo Fighters<\/a>\u00a0celebrated their 30th anniversary and released \u201cToday\u2019s Song<\/a>,\u201d their first new music in two years. Dave Grohl<\/a>\u00a0revealed the song on the band\u2019s official website and shared an audio statement where he acknowledged, for the first time, Freese\u2019s exit.<\/p>\n
