A just-released new version of the track, featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/elton-john\/\" id=\"auto-tag_elton-john\" data-tag=\"elton-john\">Elton John<\/a> on vocals, is the first single from the fictional metal gods\u2019 new album,<em>The End Continues<\/em>. The collection, due Sept. 12, will accompany <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/tv-movies\/tv-movie-news\/spinal-tap-ii-trailer-all-star-cameos-1235393527\/\">the long-delayed sequel<\/a> to 1984\u2019s <em>This Is Spinal Tap<\/em>, <em>Spinal Tap II: The End Continues<\/em>, which hits theaters the same day.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Spinal Tap - Stonehenge ft. Elton John (Official Video)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2WWTzQ-mRFw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe album, <a href=\"https:\/\/store.spinaltap.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">available to preorder now<\/a>, also includes guest vocals from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/paul-mccartney\/\" id=\"auto-tag_paul-mccartney\" data-tag=\"paul-mccartney\">Paul McCartney<\/a> on \u201cCups and Cakes,\u201d the twee, ultra-British ballad that was \u2014\u00a0 in the band\u2019s fictional backstory \u2014 the B-side to their single \u201cGimme Some Money.\u201d\u00a0 Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood also pop up, singing \u201cBig Bottom,\u201d a cover version that, in the new movie\u2019s story, ends up spurring the band\u2019s reunion after it goes viral.\u00a0 Among the nine new songs on the album is \u201cRockin\u2019 In The Urn,\u201d a suitably ludicrous ode to literal rock n\u2019 roll immortality.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe movie, which reunites Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer as Spinal Tap, is directed once again by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/rob-reiner\/\" id=\"auto-tag_rob-reiner\" data-tag=\"rob-reiner\">Rob Reiner<\/a>, who also reprises his on-screen role as fictional documentarian Marty DiBergi. The film traces the band\u2019s fractious rehearsals for what\u2019s supposed to be their final concert, and fills in some of the gaps in their story \u2014\u00a0we learn that Guest\u2019s Nigel Tufnel is now the proprietor of the cheese shop. They\u2019re also seeing a new drummer \u2014\u00a0always a dangerous gig \u2014 and we see famous percussionists including Questlove turn down the job. McCartney and John both have larger-than-cameo roles in the movie, playing music with the band and improvising dialogue along with the cast.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<em>Spinal Tap II <\/em>is the first Tap movie since 1984, but the band has kept busy over the years\u00a0\u2014 despite not actually existing \u2014\u00a0with live shows and recordings.
