Women and international artists absolutely dominated the four-day festival held in Chicago at Grant Park. The representation was a welcome one as evidenced by the tens of thousands of fans who bought tickets; four-day passes sold-out in less than an hour after the lineup was announced in March.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAmong the big draws were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/sabrina-carpenter\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sabrina-carpenter\" data-tag=\"sabrina-carpenter\">Sabrina Carpenter<\/a>, who closed out the festival with surprise guests Earth, Wind &amp; Fire, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/aap-rocky\/\" id=\"auto-tag_aap-rocky\" data-tag=\"aap-rocky\">A$AP Rocky<\/a>, who performed from a life-sized helicopter onstage. The Mar\u00edas, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/dominic-fike\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dominic-fike\" data-tag=\"dominic-fike\">Dominic Fike<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/finneas\/\" id=\"auto-tag_finneas\" data-tag=\"finneas\">Finneas<\/a> were among the highlights from the Chicago fest\u2019s final day on Sunday at Grant Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<strong>Sabrina Carpenter Sunday Finally Arrives<\/strong><br \/>The summer<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/sabrina-carpenter-new-album-mans-best-friend-fame-1235359144\/\"> <em>Rolling Stone <\/em>cover star<\/a> Sabrina Carpenter last performed at Lolla a couple of years back, where she told us about the naughty freestyle outro of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/lollapalooza-2023-day-two-recap-the1975-matty-healy-sidesteps-controversy-1234798794\/\">Nonsense<\/a>\u201d and opening for Taylor Swift. \u201cTwo years ago I was at that stage,\u201d Carpenter gestured toward one of the smaller side stages during her set. \u201cNow we get to play this one,\u201d she said from the headlining main stage at Lollapalooza. She catapulted to the top of the bill on the strength of <em>Short n\u2019 Sweet<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sabrina-carpenter-duran-duran-perform-hungry-like-the-wolf-1235379506\/\">making friends<\/a> and more fans and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sabrina-carpenter-mans-best-friend-album-alternate-cover-1235372108\/\">angering zealots<\/a> along the way. No matter, the singer can hold her own and held it well as she closed out the 2025 edition of Lollapalooza.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tCarpenter showed up first onscreen as a Chicago news anchor to welcome the massive crowd to the retro-themed party that matched her music influences, signaling the winking humor that was to come before she arrived onstage to perform \u201cBusy Woman\u201d and \u201cTaste.\u201d The show featured a dance competition and nostalgic television ads, and a bed where she performed the steamy \u201cBed Chem\u201d \u2014 all part of her polished recent tour, but she did have a few new tricks up her clever sleeve. She brought out Earth, Wind &amp; Fire with whom she traded verses for rousing performances of \u201cLet\u2019s Groove\u201d and \u201cSeptember.\u201d During the \u201cJuno\u201d skit where she arrests people with fuzzy pink handcuffs for being too hot, she proposed marriage to members of fellow fest headliners Twice, and later she ascended on a crane in the middle of the audience to perform \u201cDon\u2019t Smile\u201d from above. After set closer \u201cEspresso,\u201d she dropped the trailer for her highly-anticipated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sabrina-carpenter-mans-best-friend-track-list-1235392876\/\"><em>Man\u2019s Best Friend<\/em><\/a>\u00a0 to close out the night. Sporting a head full of pink hair curlers and an oversized flannel atop a bulletproof vest, the rapper dangled from a life-sized helicopter like a civilian kidnapped in an action movie. Fans manifesting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/asap-rockys-album-dont-be-dumb-what-we-know-1235385029\/\"><em>Don\u2019t Be Dumb<\/em><\/a> drop after nearly three years of waiting had to hold on a little longer. As consolation, Rocky performed \u201cHighjack\u201d and \u201cTailor Swift\u201d from the unreleased album, and tacked on a live rarity for good measure: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/long-live-aap-100815\/\"><em>Long.Live.ASAP<\/em><\/a>\u2019s \u201cLVL,\u201d which he hasn\u2019t performed in more than a decade.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI know rap is real competitive right now, but I wanna spread love,\u201d said Rocky. Performed in rapid-fire succession before Chicago\u2019s noise ordinance kicked in were \u201cLSD,\u201d \u201cSundress,\u201d and \u201cGoldie,\u201d a career-spanning set list of highlights that flaunted not just how skilled Rocky is as a rapper, but how varied his music remains in the passing years. Under the hypnotic spell of singer Mar\u00eda Zardoya, whose breathy delivery is part comforting whisper, part secretive rasp, the jazzy dream-pop band used a dusk timeslot to seamlessly soundtrack different visions: hiding in a room alone, running into an ex, lusting after a lover. From the seductive \u201cHush\u201d to the explosive burst of drums in \u201cVicious Sensitive Robot,\u201d or even their cover of the Cardigans\u2019 \u201cLovefool,\u201d the Mar\u00edas swirled through a set list of woozy emotions and hazier sounds.
