The actress explained that she followed “Southern girl etiquette” \u2014 like not double-texting or saying “I love you” first \u2014 early in her relationship with the producer<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
\n\tMargaret Qualley<\/a> and Jack Antonoff<\/a>\u2018s earliest dates included long walks around New York City in places like Washington Square Park and near Electric Lady Studios, where they first met during a rooftop party. But while their romance was locationally rooted in the city, the traditional approach they took to dating highlighted the actress\u2019 North Carolina upbringing.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cBefore we were together, at the beginning, I would always follow Southern girl etiquette,\u201d Qualley told Cosmopolitan<\/a><\/em>. Antonoff was the first to say \u201cI love you\u201d and often the first to initiate their conversations over text. \u201cI\u2019m very old-school about stuff like this. I would never put myself out there first. I never text twice,\u201d she added. \u201cI mean, now we\u2019re married and I can text him anything at any time. We\u2019re always having a conversation; he\u2019s like my human diary.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIn past relationships, Qualley would attempt to contort herself into someone else\u2019s ideal partner. It often left her feeling \u201clonely because I wasn\u2019t with my person, and it\u2019s like I was seeking something,\u201d a feeling that dissipated when she found her now-husband. \u201cI spent so many years trying to be someone\u2019s perfect girl, and that girl changed over and over again,\u201d she said. \u201cBut I can\u2019t lie to Jack. I can\u2019t be that for him\u2014he\u2019d see through it. So I just have to be myself \u2026 Jack makes me feel safe and comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n
