The album drops on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tPinkPantheress joins Amaarae for \u201cKiss Me Thru the Phone pt.2,\u201d a seeming reference to the 2008 Soulja Boy hit.  (It\u2019s unclear if she samples the classic on her own song.) Supermodel icon Naomi Campbell joins  Amaarae for \u201cms60,\u201d while Bree Runway and Starkillers join for \u201cStarkilla.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s bold and audacious,\u201d she previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/amaarae-black-star-new-album-interview-1235352581\/\">told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> about the track. \u201cAll the suits have gone back and forth like, \u2018I think you should change the name or the lyrics.\u2019 But when I preview it, people come to me and say, \u2018This is the record.\u2019 I think it\u2019s just nice sometimes to say the thing as it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Amaarae - Girlie-Pop! On the following song, Track 11, she\u2019s joined by The Gap Band icon Charlie Wilson for \u201cDream Scenario.\u201d The album ends with \u201c100DRUM\u201d and \u201cFree the Youth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAmaarae previously explained<em> <\/em>that she wanted to spotlight electronic music, \u201ca genre that needs to go back home to its roots,\u201d on the album. The album title, <em>Black Star<\/em>, is a triple entendre referencing herself, the Ghanaian flag, and the Black cultural roots of the dance music she blends on the record. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201c<em>Black Star<\/em>\u00a0to me is the genesis of me feeling sure and confident in myself as a grown woman, number one, and knowing exactly what my message is, how I want to tell it to the world,\u201d she previously told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>. \u201cMy soul can\u2019t rest until I feel like I\u2019ve made a project that resonates in a really huge way globally.
