Joan Shelley<\/a> has announced a new album: Real Warmth<\/em><\/a> is out September 19 via No Quarter<\/a>. The Kentucky songwriter\u2019s follow up to 2022\u2019s The Spur<\/em><\/a> was produced by Ben Whiteley and features contributions from the Weather Station<\/a>\u2019s Tamara Lindeman, Doug Paisley<\/a>, Nathan Salsburg<\/a>, Matt Kelley, Ken Whiteley, drummer Philippe Melanson, and saxophonist Karen Ng. \u201cWe had a few windows in mid-winter and it really felt like there was an urgency to capture a moment in time with these songs, performances, people involved, and against the political backdrop,\u201d Whiteley shared in a press statement. \u201cThe record really feels like a capture instead of a meticulous construction. Part of Joan\u2019s concept was not only to go to a place but to draw on the community of musicians from that place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, Shelley shared an EP titled Mood Ring<\/em><\/a>. She\u2019s set to embark on a brief tour of North America in the autumn. The run of dates kicks off October 16 at Toronto, Ontario\u2019s Monarch Tavern and wraps up November 2 at the Whirling Tiger in Louisville, Kentucky. Find her schedule below.<\/p>\n
