{"id":43004,"date":"2025-08-05T18:01:34","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T18:01:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/05\/the-dare-on-justin-biebers-swag-and-kacey-musgraves-golden-hour\/"},"modified":"2025-08-05T18:01:34","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T18:01:34","slug":"the-dare-on-justin-biebers-swag-and-kacey-musgraves-golden-hour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/05\/the-dare-on-justin-biebers-swag-and-kacey-musgraves-golden-hour\/","title":{"rendered":"The Dare on Justin Bieber&#8217;s &#8216;Swag&#8217; and Kacey Musgraves&#8217; &#8216;Golden Hour&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-dare\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-dare\" data-tag=\"the-dare\">The Dare<\/a> took some time out of his Lollapalooza weekend to sit down with <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> for \u201cSong Shuffle,\u201d which uncovered the producer and DJ\u2019s love for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-country\/kacey-musgraves-on-why-she-calls-her-golden-hour-album-space-country-205563\/\">Kacey Musgraves<\/a> and his thoughts on how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/justin-bieber\/\" id=\"auto-tag_justin-bieber\" data-tag=\"justin-bieber\">Justin Bieber<\/a> could have improved his new album, <em>SWAG<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAfter hitting shuffle on his playlist, the first song to pop up was Musgraves\u2019 \u201cVelvet Elvis.\u201d While calling Musgraves\u2019 Grammy-winning LP \u201cone of the greatest albums of all time,\u201d The Dare admits that the Presley-referencing track isn\u2019t his favorite.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201c[It\u2019s] a very playful and slightly more dancey one, I suppose,\u201d he says. \u201cI used to listen to it, driving around in\u00a0the Pacific Northwest a little bit, and I feel like it was kind of a gateway drug into country music for me a little bit. I think my favorite on\u00a0<em>Golden Hour<\/em>\u00a0is \u2018Mother\u2019 or \u2018Love Is a Wild Thing.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tHe adds, \u201cI love\u00a0the\u00a0whole record. I think it\u2019s pretty incredible front to back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThen came \u201c405\u201d from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/justin-bieber-creative-freedom-swag-scooter-braun-split-1235384459\/\">new Bieber record<\/a>, which he thinks \u201ccould have done with a little bit of editing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI actually just listened to\u00a0the\u00a0album on a flight back from Japan last week in full. I fell asleep at some point during it. It could have been\u00a0the\u00a0jet lag. It could have been\u00a0the\u00a0soothing, soulful sounds of\u00a0<em>SWAG<\/em>,\u201d he says. \u201cOr some combination. But I enjoyed some of\u00a0the\u00a0first half, I liked\u00a0the\u00a0singles \u2018Daisies\u2019 and \u2018Yukon.\u2019 But it\u2019s a really long album, and unless records sort of have a conceptual edge to\u00a0them, I typically don\u2019t love albums that are over 12 to 14 songs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAccording to The Dare, the sweet spot for an album is anywhere between nine and 14 tracks. \u201cI think\u00a0the\u00a0run time is under forty minutes. We have good banter.
