\n\tAbout four years ago, Lukas Nelson<\/a> made a life change. He gave up drinking and smoking weed, got in shape, and even earned his pilot\u2019s license. But the singer, songwriter, and guitarist stops short of saying he\u2019s \u201csober.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI wouldn\u2019t call it sober completely, because I\u2019ll still do mushrooms. Once a year, twice a year, I\u2019ll do mushrooms and check in with myself,\u201d Nelson told Rolling Stone<\/em> during an appearance on its country podcast Nashville Now<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\tHe also opened up about the juxtaposition of being the son of America\u2019s most famous weed proponent<\/a> \u2014\u00a0Willie Nelson \u2014 and deciding to give up the habit. Nelson says his father understood.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cMy dad respects individuality. He respect being yourself. He and I both now don\u2019t smoke weed. I don\u2019t think it mattered to him either way,\u201d he said, before detailing past marijuana usage that is monumental even for a Nelson. \u201cWhen I was smoking I\u2019d smoke six, seven joints a day. I was so into weed.\u201d<\/p>\n
