Naeem<\/a>, the artist formerly known as Spank Rock<\/a>, has revived his own alter ego for a new song, \u201cBankroll Peelers<\/a>.\u201d The track, credited to Naeem featuring Spank Rock, also has contributions from producers Sam\u202fGreens, Noah\u202fBeresin, and Matti\u202fFree, as well as Arctic Monkeys<\/a> drummer Matt Helders, who sings backing vocals in the chorus. Check it out below.<\/p>\n Naeem said in press materials, \u201cSpank Rock is the Goat! Actually, he\u2019s not the goat; he\u2019s a Coyote, Monkey, Loki, or Eshu. Instead of feeling at odds creatively with my past and where I want to go, I invited my younger self back into the room. Spank Rock\u2019s ephemeral energy rearranged the order of things. Personally, I feel like I\u2019m more risk-adverse than Spank Rock is. It\u2019s fun to work with someone who doesn\u2019t care how people perceive him. I would love for music to be surprising again.\u201d<\/p>\n A release party for the single, at Los Angeles\u2019 Silverlake Lounge this Thursday, August 14, will feature a Naeem performance as Spank Rock and a DJ set, plus sets from Noah Beresin, Gloworm, Glassface, and Mucky. Naeem released his sole post\u2013Spank Rock album to date, Startisha<\/em><\/a>, back in 2020.<\/p>\n
