The pop-punkers have announced, <em>Sad<\/em>, the second installment of their <a data-id=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/mayday-parade-sweet-interview-1235318439\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/mayday-parade-sweet-interview-1235318439\/\">20th anniversary<\/a> album trilogy, out Oct. 3. With its melancholy riffs and Nineties-inspired percussion, Sanders described the song as \u201ca part of old school nostalgic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/emo\/\" id=\"auto-tag_emo\" data-tag=\"emo\">emo<\/a>\u201d but with a modern twist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<em>Sad<\/em> comes on the heels of the band\u2019s first release of the three-part album, <em><a data-id=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/mayday-parade-towards-you-single-sweet-album-1235281567\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/mayday-parade-towards-you-single-sweet-album-1235281567\/\">Sweet<\/a><\/em>, which arrived in April. As the title suggests, this new installment serves as a counterpart to its predecessor with a softer, more introspective mood compared to the anthemic <a data-id=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/mayday-parade-new-song-pretty-good-to-feel-something-1235057228\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/mayday-parade-new-song-pretty-good-to-feel-something-1235057228\/\">pop-punk vitality<\/a> of <em>Sweet<\/em>. It seems especially fitting for the forthcoming fall season.
