With its black and white spray-panted stripes, the guitar resembles Van Halen\u2019s famous \u201cFrankenstein\u201d from 1975 and is on that same design.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content-image \/\/  \">\n<figure class=\"o-figure   size-large is-resized alignnone lrv-u-max-width-100p\" style=\"width:840pxpx\">\n<div class=\"c-lazy-image  lrv-u-border-a-2\">\n<div class=\"lrv-a-crop-16x9\" style=\"\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div><figcaption class=\"c-figcaption  lrv-u-flex lrv-u-flex-direction-column lrv-u-align-items-center\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"lrv-u-text-transform-uppercase lrv-a-font-body-xs lrv-u-margin-t-050 lrv-u-text-align-center\">Courtesy of Sotheby\u2019s<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tA few years after those Van Halen shows, according to Sotheby\u2019s, Van Halen gifted the instrument to his guitar tech, Robin \u201cRudy\u201d Leiren. (The guitar sports an inscription to Leiren.) Leirin ultimately sold it to M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce\u2019s Mick Mars, who used it on the band\u2019s <em>Dr. Feelgood <\/em>album. In late 2020, just two months after his death, three of them sold for a combined $422,000 at Julien\u2019s Auction. One was actually a prop guitar used by the child actor in Van Halen\u2019s \u201cHot for Teacher\u201d video. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tSince then, the value of Van Halen\u2019s collection has clearly ramped up.
