\n\tThe Pistol Annies<\/a> haven\u2019t released a studio album since 2021\u2019s Christmas LP Hell of a Holiday<\/a><\/em>, but that doesn\u2019t mean the trio of Ashley Monroe<\/a>, Angaleena Presley, and Miranda Lambert are finished making music. In a new interview with Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s Nashville Now<\/a><\/em> podcast, Monroe says she\u2019s writing with both of her band members and that the group has a batch of unheard songs finished.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe\u2019re texting all the time. We have a lot of songs that nobody\u2019s heard yet that we\u2019d love for them to one day,\u201d Monroe says. \u201cWe can\u2019t have our last record we make be a Christmas record. Even though I love that record, we have to do one main record.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe timing of any new album, however, is on Jesus\u2019s time, Monroe quips: \u201cWe say, \u2018Jesus is our A&R guy.\u2019 We\u2019ll know when.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIn the meantime, she raves about Presley and Lambert\u2019s solo careers. \u201cAngaleena is thriving\u2026 working on her own music. Her and I have been writing a ton,\u201d she says. \u201cMiranda\u2019s been touring her butt off and is thriving in her world and her realm. I\u2019ve written with her recently.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAs for Monroe \u2014 a.k.a. \u201cHippie Annie\u201d \u2014 the Tennessee native just released her new album Tennessee Lightning<\/em>, titled after another nickname she\u2019s inherited. This one was given to her by the songwriter Shelby Lynne. \u201cI went over to her house, a year or two ago, and she always opens her notebook and has a pencil, and she hit it and she said, \u2018I wrote down Tennessee Lightning,\u2019\u201d she recalls. \u201cI loved it, so we wrote it\u2026. Then she started calling me \u2018Tennessee.\u2019\u2026 I like that as my little superhero name.\u201d<\/p>\n
