The song \u201cHot Rod Pipe Dream,\u201d in particular, evokes powerful women-fronted bands like Veruca Salt and the Breeders.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn a new interview on <em>Rolling Stone\u2019<\/em>s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/nashville-now\/\" id=\"auto-tag_nashville-now\" data-tag=\"nashville-now\">Nashville Now<\/a> <\/em>podcast, Monroe dismisses with the tendency to overly dissect genres. Like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/linda-martell-beyonce-country-cowboy-carter-1234995662\/\">Linda Martell <\/a>said on Beyonce\u2019s <em>Cowboy Carter<\/em> album, \u201cGenres are a funny little concept, aren\u2019t they?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI was thinking the other day [about ] eating a sandwich that was so great, but all you could think about is \u2018What would you call this? How did they make this?\u2019 You wouldn\u2019t enjoy it as much,\u201d Monroe says, drawing a culinary analogy to hard and strict genres. \u201cTake a bite out of it and let it touch you and don\u2019t even worry about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tFor Monroe, her listening habits run the gamut, from Peggy Lee and Lynyrd Skynyrd, she says, to Neil Young and A$AP Rocky: \u201cIt\u2019s the ebb and flow of everything.
