{"id":44291,"date":"2025-08-19T21:18:59","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T21:18:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/19\/eve-opens-up-about-past-relationship-with-suge-knight\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T21:18:59","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T21:18:59","slug":"eve-opens-up-about-past-relationship-with-suge-knight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/19\/eve-opens-up-about-past-relationship-with-suge-knight\/","title":{"rendered":"Eve Opens Up About Past Relationship With Suge Knight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/eve\">Eve<\/a> has opened up about her relationship with <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/suge-knight\">Suge Knight<\/a> and how it led to a strained relationship with Interscope Records in the early 00s.<\/p>\n<p>The two had a brief romance beginning in 2001 with Eve reminiscing about the time in her new memoir Who\u2019s That Girl?<\/p>\n<p>She revealed that she made a move on Suge to get back at Dr. Dre: \u201cI was still in my little mood about Dre even though we made a solid hit together, so having Suge, his former boss at Death Row stomping around Interscope felt like some sweet revenge. I am not really sure how I concocted this idea yet here we were.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eve claims that when Suge started getting involved in her business with Interscope and it\u2019s head Jimmy Iovine, relations soured between her and the label: \u201cI feel like he (Jimmy) took his anger out on my third album.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also said she ended the relationship on the advice of Ruff Ryders co-founders Dee and Waah Dean: \u201cThey didn\u2019t like the idea of me hanging out with Suge at all. When my guys said it was time to cut the cord, I didn\u2019t think twice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eve then revealed Suge\u2019s reaction to her decision to call the relationship quits: \u201cIf I was your little sis, I would tell you the same thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, <a class=\"underline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/news\/eve-music-catalog-eight-figure-deal\/\">Eve made a big business move and elected to sell her back catalog for an enormous eight figure sum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to Music Business Worldwide, Iconoclast announced that they had purchased the entire catalog of the Ruff Ryders rapper with the figure believed to be somewhere between $25 and $50 million.<\/p>\n<p>Included in the purchase is Eve\u2019s 1999 debut album\u00a0<em>Let There Be Eve\u2026Ruff Ryders\u2019 First Lady<\/em>, which helped her become the third female rapper in history to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEve became a defining voice in hip-hop, known for her lyrical prowess, dynamic flow, and unique fusion of rap and R&amp;B influences,\u201d Iconoclast wrote in their announcement.
