\n\tJudas Priest<\/a> frontman Rob Halford<\/a> said he was rocked by Ozzy Osbourne<\/a>\u2019s death last month, admitting he \u201cjust curled up in a ball and bawled my eyes out for hours\u201d after receiving the devastating news.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI just couldn\u2019t believe it,\u201d Halford said in an interview with Detroit radio station WRIF\u2019s Talkin\u2019 Rock with Meltdown<\/a><\/em>. \u201cI still can\u2019t believe it now. I\u2019m still grieving, like so many people.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tOsbourne died of a heart attack aged 76 on July 22<\/a>. Fans filled the streets of the Black Sabbath<\/a> singer\u2019s hometown of Birmingham for his funeral on July 30, chanting his name and playing the heavy metal band\u2019s music in the streets.<\/p>\n \n\tHalford said the day after Osbourne\u2019s death, Judas Priest was booked to play a show. Wanting to pay tribute to the icon who had a \u201clarger-than-life personality,\u201d Halford said they played \u2018Giants in the Sky\u2019 from the band\u2019s Invincible Shield <\/em>album. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThat song talks about people that we love in music that have moved on to this beautiful place,\u201d Halford explained. \u201cAnd then for that show, we added Ozzy at the end.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tUnable to make Osbourne\u2019s farewell show in early July, Halford said he couldn\u2019t quite remember the last conversation he had with the rocker. \u201cWe used to text occasionally,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s been a while since we\u2019ve been in touch. But again, I just have the wonderful memories of the two opportunities I was able to sing for him with Sabbath. And then this recent opportunity to cover \u2018War Pigs\u2019, which we still play at the start of our show, which is one of the greatest metal songs ever written. So that connection will never be severed in that respect.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
