\n\tMorgan Wallen<\/a> is ensuring his streak of never receiving a solo Grammy nomination continues by declining to submit his latest album<\/a>, I\u2019m the Problem<\/a><\/em>, for consideration.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n \n\tWallen\u2019s team confirmed the news to Rolling Stone<\/em>, after it was first reported by Hits Daily Double<\/a><\/em> and Billboard<\/a><\/em>. Not only will Wallen not submit I\u2019m the Problem <\/em>\u2014 which has spent 11 weeks so far at Number One on the Billboard <\/em>200 \u2014 in any of the album categories, he also won\u2019t submit individual recordings<\/a> in categories like Record of the Year or Best Country Solo Performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tAdditionally, Wallen won\u2019t seek songwriting nominations for any of the tracks he co-wrote on I\u2019m the Problem<\/em>. But as Billboard <\/em>notes, Wallen\u2019s team won\u2019t stop any of the songwriters he worked with from putting up their work for consideration.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tWallen isn\u2019t the first major artist to decline to submit their music to the Grammys. Most recently, Drake<\/a>, the Weeknd<\/a>, and Frank Ocean<\/a> have rebuffed the institution<\/a>, criticizing the nominations committees and voting body for being disconnected<\/a> from what\u2019s actually popular and meaningful to contemporary audiences, especially in their worlds<\/a> of hip-hop and R&B.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tAfter he declined to submit Blonde<\/a><\/em>, Ocean said in a 2016 interview<\/a> that the Grammys don\u2019t \u201cseem to be representing very well for people who come from where I come from, and hold down what I hold down.\u201d He added: \u201cI think the infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated. I\u2019d rather this be my Colin Kaepernick moment for the Grammys than sit there in the audience.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
