Rakoff on Tuesday night, the judge went through each of Rivers\u2019 22 causes of motion and the accompanying timeframes a claim must be brought.\u00a0\u201cThe vast majority of the conduct \u2026 took place over twenty years ago, whereas the most generous limitations period applicable to any of Rivers\u2019 claims is ten years,\u201d the judge wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/making-the-band-star-sara-rivers-sues-sean-combs-1235276365\/\">In a 148-page lawsuit filed in February<\/a>, Rivers alleged she endured \u201cinhumane\u201d working conditions and wasn\u2019t compensated adequately during the filming of the popular MTV reality show between 2002 and 2004. She also alleged that Combs blackballed her from the music industry, ruining a once-promising career after he dismantled their group on the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAlthough Rivers said a fear of retaliation kept her from coming forward and filing her lawsuit sooner, Judge Rakoff noted her \u201cgeneral claims of psychological stress cannot give rise\u201d to being so outside the limitations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cIt is important to remember the many positive purposes served by statutes of limitations,\u201d Rakoff added. \u201cThey promote justice by preventing surprises through plaintiffs\u2019 revival of claims that have been allowed to slumber until evidence has been lost, memories have faded, and witnesses have disappeared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tStill, Rivers\u2019 case is active with one cause of action remaining. The court agreed, finding no legal basis to allow them to proceed,\u201d Combs\u2019 civil lawyer Erica Wolff said in a statement. \u201cWe are pleased the court carefully analyzed and swiftly dismissed these baseless claims.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tBut Rivers is not deterred. \u201cThe most serious and personal claim, sexual assault, remains very much alive,\u201d <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DNXJB80N2BL\/\">Rivers posted on her Instagram account<\/a> last week. \u201cThis fight was never about headlines. It\u2019s about truth, accountability, and justice for me, and for every other survivor that has been told that they should just give up.
