Jack White<\/a> is a longtime critic<\/a> of President Donald J. Trump and his administration, and the musician has even taken<\/a> legal action<\/a> against the politician and his campaign. The latest chapter in the saga of White vs. White House came earlier this week when the White Stripes<\/a> rocker insulted<\/a> Trump\u2019s redecoration<\/a> of the Oval Office, saying that it now looks like \u201ca vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler\u2019s dressing room.\u201d The barb elicited a response from Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, who told The Daily Beast<\/em><\/a> that White is \u201ca washed up, has-been loser posting drivel on social media because he clearly has ample time on his hands due to his stalled career.\u201d<\/p>\n Cheung further defended his boss\u2019 aesthetic choices, telling the outlet: \u201cIt\u2019s apparent he\u2019s been masquerading as a real artist, because he fails to appreciate, and quite frankly disrespects, the splendor and significance of the Oval Office inside of \u2018The People\u2019s House.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The war of words continued yesterday (August 20), with White sharing<\/a> a lengthy statement against Trump and his administration on Instagram. White criticized Trump\u2019s \u201cblatant fascist manipulation of government, his gestapo ICE tactics, his racist remarks about Latinos, Native Americans, etc. his ridiculous \u2018wall\u2019 construction, his attacks on the disabled, his attempted coup and mob insurrection and destruction of the sacred halls of congress,\u201d and plenty more. He went on to use Cheung\u2019s words against Trump, writing that the president \u201cis masquerading as a human being,\u201d and \u201cmasquerading as a christian, as a leader, as a person with actual empathy.\u201d<\/p>\n Several artists\u2014including Margo Price<\/a> and Michigander\u2019s Jason Singer<\/a>\u2014have supported White in the comments on his post. \u201cYou hit a fuckin\u2019 nerve \u2018cuz they don\u2019t put out statements this length for earthquakes and shootings,\u201d Patton Oswalt wrote<\/a>. \u201cKeep going.\u201d Cat Power\u2019s Chan Marshall added<\/a>, \u201cLOVE YOU JACK\u2764\ufe0f\u200d\ud83d\udd25.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
