\n\tThe whirlwind romance of Taylor Swift<\/a> and Travis Kelce<\/a> has been commemorated with a diamond ring. The musician and athlete have announced their engagement after two years of dating<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYour English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,\u201d Swift and Kelce wrote in a joint post on Instagram. The carousel of photos captured the couple surrounded by flowers and foliage. Kelce proposed with a Kindred Lubeck-designed ring from Artifex Fine Jewelry, housing an old mine brilliant cut. They set the post to \u201cSo High School,\u201d the Tortured Poets Department <\/em>deep cut where she sings, \u201cAre you gonna marry, kiss, or kill me? It\u2019s just a game, but really.\u201d Now she has her answer.<\/p>\n

\n\tWith Kelce, Swift was able to mostly keep their relationship under wraps while they got to know each other, but the Kansas City Chiefs tight end wasn\u2019t shy about his crush. \u201cIf you\u2019re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there,\u201d Kelce said on an episode of his New Heights<\/em> podcast in July. \u201cBut I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tShooting his shot by indulging in the theatrics of the world Swift has created around her music turned out to be the way to her heart. \u201cThis all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,\u201d Swift told Time<\/a><\/em> in a rare interview December 2023. \u201cWe started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I\u2019m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile many believed they were witnessing Kelce and Swift\u2019s first date when she pulled up<\/a> to the Kansas City Chief\u2019s game against the Chicago Bears in September, the pair were already comfortable settled into their relationship at that point. \u201cBy the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,\u201d Swift added. \u201cWe would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a recent appearance on Kelce\u2019s New Heights <\/em>podcast<\/a>, Swift reflected fondly on how he went about courting her. \u201cThis kind of felt more like I was in an Eighties John Hughes movie, and he was standing outside of my window with boom box, just being like, \u2018I want to date you,’\u201d she said. \u201cThis is sort of what I\u2019ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Swift usually prefers to communicate about her relationships through song, apart from this rare podcast appearance and the Time <\/em>interview tied to her being named Person of the Year, Kelce has mostly embraced the media storm <\/a>around them. \u201cObviously I\u2019ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them\u2026. I\u2019ve never dealt with it,\u201d he told the\u00a0Wall Street Journal<\/em>\u00a0<\/a>magazine. \u201cBut at the same time, I\u2019m not running away from any of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this month, he told GQ<\/a><\/em>, \u201cNothing I\u2019ve ever done has been a controlled, organized process. When I say it was so organic, we fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with. We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values. It kind of just took the fuck off.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSwift is no stranger to being in a public relationship, some of her past boyfriends more accustomed to the limelight than others. In 2023, just before Swift launched the Eras tour, her six-year relationship with the actor Joe Alwyn came to an end.<\/a> The couple were intensely private, having managed to develop their relationship over the course of nine months before tabloids picked up on it. <\/p>\n

\n\tBut over the years, she\u2019s learned to not care \u2014 not about who\u2019s watching, which lyrics are being dissected, or how anyone else feels when it comes to an end. The buzz around her relationship with Kelce has been inescapable since that first game day appearance and neither of them seem to mind much at all.<\/p>\n
