Inside, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/american-idol-music-supervisor-husband-shot-killed-home-1235386714\/\">they found two people dead<\/a> \u2014 Robin Kaye, a longtime music supervisor for <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/american-idol\/\" id=\"auto-tag_american-idol\" data-tag=\"american-idol\">American Idol<\/a><\/em>, and her husband, Thomas Deluca.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe pair had been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/american-idol-supervisor-husband-cause-of-death-1235415439\/\">shot and killed several days earlier<\/a>, with authorities later determining that Kaye and Deluca sustained their fatal injuries on July 10. Not long after their bodies were discovered, police quickly identified, arrested, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/arrest-shooting-death-american-idol-music-supervisor-1235387017\/\">charged a suspect, 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian<\/a>, in the shocking killing that has rattled a neighborhood and a longtime reality TV tentpole.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tHere\u2019s everything we know about the case so far.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tKaye spent more than a decade working as a music supervisor on <em>American Idol<\/em>. She joined the show in 2009 and is credited on nearly 300 episodes. After her death, a spokesperson for the show called Kaye \u201ca cornerstone of the <em>Idol <\/em>family,\u201d and was \u201ctruly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe statement continued: \u201cRobin will remain in our hearts forever as we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tFormer <em>American Idol <\/em>judge Randy Jackson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DMKkhenRHkr\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">called<\/a> Kaye \u201ca dear friend\u201d and said she \u201cconsistently went the extra mile, meticulously ensuring songs were placed and cleared for the show. She was truly one of a kind. Forever loved and deeply appreciated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAlong with <em>American Idol<\/em>, Kaye worked as a music supervisor on several other major shows, including <em>Miss Universe, Lip Sync Battle, The Dance Scene, <\/em>and <em>Crashed<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tDeluca also worked in music, a guitarist and songwriter who spent many years plying his trade in Nashville. He co-wrote songs that were recorded by Aerosmith\u2019s Joe Perry, Jennifer Rush, Meredith Brooks, Molly Hatchett, and David Allen Coe. The couple later relocated to Los Angeles in the middle of the decade and married soon after. They moved into their house in Encino in 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAccording to authorities, Kaye and Deluca had returned from the grocery store on July 10 when they confronted a stranger in their house. Police say the suspect, Boodarian, had entered through an unlocked door, and that the house\u2019s alarm system was off at that time; a previous LAPD statement said \u201cthere were no signs of forced entry or trouble.\u201d During the confrontation that ensued, Boodarian allegedly shot Kaye and Deluca multiple times with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/american-idol-supervisor-husband-killed-own-gun-1235390776\/\">gun that belonged to the couple<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tWhile Kaye and Deluca\u2019s bodies weren\u2019t discovered until the welfare check on July 14, it was later revealed that two 911 calls were made on the day of the killing \u2014 including one allegedly from Boodarian himself. The first call from a neighbor about a possible burglary came at around 4:10 p.m. and prompted LAPD officers to check the home and walk the perimeter, while a helicopter conducted a fly-over. It\u2019s believed Boodarian was inside the home at this time, though no suspicious activity was detected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe second call came around 4:44 p.m., with a search warrant affidavit stating that \u201cthe 911 caller identified himself as Raymond Boodarian and advised that someone broke into his office.\u201d According to the affidavit, the caller also stated, \u201cPlease don\u2019t shoot me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<section class=\"brands-most-popular \/\/ recirculation-modules lrv-u-margin-tb-2 lrv-u-border-a-2 u-box-shadow-5-5 lrv-u-padding-lr-1 a-span1 u-padding-b-1@tablet u-overflow-hidden\">\n<h2 id=\"section-heading\" class=\"c-heading larva  lrv-u-text-align-center u-border-color-black a-font-theme-primary-xxs lrv-u-color-black lrv-u-text-transform-uppercase u-letter-spacing-0063 lrv-u-padding-t-050 u-padding-b-0375@tablet lrv-u-padding-b-050@mobile-max lrv-u-border-b-2\">\n<p>\t\tRelated Content<\/p>\n<\/h2>\n<\/section>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tDespite the two 911 calls, and subsequent house checks, authorities did not immediately find Kaye and Deluca\u2019s bodies. \u201cOfficers arrived on scene and conducted a check of the surrounding area and attempted to visually check the residence through the security gate. They attempted entry at two access points but both were locked and secured,\u201d LAPD Communications Director Jennifer Forkish previously said (via the <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2025-07-22\/american-idol-exec-encino-killings-calls-from-inside-the-house\">Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/em>). \u201cThe home was secured with surrounding walls. The Air Ship visually checked the location and advised there was no visible activity or evidence of break in. After taking additional steps to contact the persons reporting and residents at the location, officers cleared from the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIt wasn\u2019t until a neighbor called the police four days later to say they hadn\u2019t seen or heard from Kaye or Deluca that police finally entered the couple\u2019s home and found them dead in separate rooms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAuthorities quickly zeroed in on Boodarian as the suspect and they were able to track his location by pinging his cellphone. He was arrested and eventually charged with two counts of murder, as well as a burglary charge. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tBoodarian was finally arraigned on Aug. 20, and showed up to court wearing a protective \u201csuicide gown,\u201d according to his public defender. Boodarian neither entered a plea, nor responded to questions asked by the judge.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cHe does have severe mental health issues,\u201d his lawyer, Nancy Kolocotronis, said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe arraignment was eventually suspended. At the end of the hearing, Judge Martin L. Herscovitz ordered Boodarian back into custody without bail and set a Sept. 3 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/accused-killer-american-idol-music-supervisor-mental-health-1235412095\/\">hearing in mental health court<\/a>.
