Yellowstone<\/em><\/a> star Cole Hauser<\/a> is set to join his longtime friend Matthew McConaughey in a new series for Netflix, according to a new report\u00a0\u2014 and the upcoming series has nothing to do with Yellowstone<\/em>.<\/p>\n Deadline<\/a><\/em> reports that Hauser\u00a0\u2014 who starred as Rip Wheeler for all five seasons of Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 and McConaughey will both star in and serve as executive producers for an as-yet-untitled sports drama series.<\/p>\n According to sources, True Detective<\/em> creator Nic Pizzolatto is on board to helm the project in association with Skydance Sports, which is now part of Paramount.<\/p>\n Hauser and McConaughey first worked together on Dazed and Confused<\/em> in 1993, and they’ve been friends for decades. Deadline reports that they have been batting around the idea for the new show for years.<\/p>\n Details about the upcoming project are scarce, but Deadline says the show will be set in the world of football, though it’s not clear if that will be college or professional football.<\/p>\n Sources tell Deadline that McConaughey and Hauser will play brothers in the upcoming series.<\/p>\n Yes. Hauser and his former Yellowstone<\/em> co-star, Kelly Reilly, are set to star in a Yellowstone<\/em> spinoff that will center around their characters, Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton, with the working title of Dutton Ranch<\/em>.<\/p>\n RELATED<\/strong><\/em>:\u00a0The Taylor Sheridan Show That Everyone Quit Talking About<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n According to Deadline<\/em>, Annette Bening is also attached to that series, for which no premiere date has been set.<\/p>\n It’s unclear if production has begun on that show, but Paramount CEO Chris McCarthy said in July that the series has been delayed until 2026.<\/p>\n Matthew McConaughey was reportedly in negotiations<\/a> to head up another proposed Yellowstone<\/em> sequel that was supposed to launch right after Yellowstone<\/em> ended, but that appears to have fallen through<\/a>.<\/p>\n In addition to the Hauser\/Reilly show, there are multiple other Yellowstone<\/em> spinoffs coming:<\/p>\n Netflix has not officially confirmed the upcoming Hauser\/McConaughey project, and no further details are yet available.<\/p>\n Cole Hauser doesn’t just play a rancher on Yellowstone<\/em>, he’s lived that life off-screen, too. The actor’s 5-bedroom-6-bathroom, 5,402-square-foot rural home on a very private, double-gated three-acre parcel of land includes the lavish 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom main residence, as well as a guest house and a separate studio apartment.
