But in this 250-person venue nestled squarely in the Hamptons, she brought out opener <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/yola\/\" id=\"auto-tag_yola\" data-tag=\"yola\">Yola<\/a> for \u201cMy Church,\u201d the first single from her 2016 debut album <em>Hero.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cIs it okay if we take you to church on this last one?,\u201d Morris asked the crowd as seen in the video above. Morris solos the first verse before Yola, whose booming voice and ebullient stage presence across five songs earlier tonight was its own spiritual presence, joined her on the singer\u2019s breakout hit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tMorris turned the set, which included \u201cThe Bones,\u201d \u201cGirl,\u201d \u201cDreamsicle,\u201d and \u201c80s Mercedes,\u201d into a <em>VH1 Storytellers<\/em>. \u201cGirl,\u201d she said, was inspired by \u201cweird shit with a friend,\u201d while the intro to \u201c80s Mercedes\u201d led Morris on a long story about her mom\u2019s obsession with Richard Gere and <em>American Gigolo.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI started dating a little bit [after my divorce] and just met some fucking bums that couldn\u2019t pay the tab,\u201d she told the crowd on what inspired her song \u201cToo Good.\u201d \u201cI brought to my cowriters this idea, and I was like, \u2018I\u2019ve been dating a few losers. I think it\u2019s just a stroke of bad luck.
