\n\tAfter ten years, Alabama Shakes<\/a> are back with a new song, \u201cAnother Life.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tDespite the decade-long hiatus, the track shows the celebrated trio hasn\u2019t lost their knack for heady throwback soul. \u201cAnother Life\u201d begins with an atmospheric groove as Brittany Howard<\/a> pleads for second chances: \u201cCan we try in another life?\/I won\u2019t make you cry again.\u201d For the song\u2019s second half, Alabama Shakes follow a thumping bridge into an extended psych-soul outro, Howard\u2019s voice and the guitars wailing in the same anguished register.<\/p>\n \n\tIn a statement, Howard said she wrote \u201cAnother Life\u201d while \u201cthinking about all the lives we carry,\u201d adding: \u201cThe ones we\u2019re living right now, the ones that slipped away because of different choices, the what ifs, the what wasn\u2019t meant to be, the goodbyes, and the chance encounters that feel divine. This song is about those threads and how they stretch across time and space, connecting every version of who we are. It\u2019s about letting them come together, letting them harmonize, and realizing that goodbye isn\u2019t really goodbye. It\u2019s more like I\u2019ll see you later. A collective story that never stops unfolding. I\u2019m glad we opened this door into this reality of us making music together again\u201d (via Pitchfork<\/a><\/em>).<\/p>\n \n\tHoward and her Alabama Shakes bandmates, guitarist Heath Fogg and bassist Zac Cockrell, first teased their reunion with a\u00a0surprise set at a benefit show<\/a>\u00a0in Tuscaloosa last December (this was their first gig together since 2017).<\/span> Not long after, the group confirmed a 2025 North American tour<\/a>, which kicked off in July and is set to wrap late next month.\u00a0<\/p>\n
