His response is the reason we’re all here today.

Cameron Arnold married Alaina in February 2024 after a year-and-a-half engagement. The singer tells Taste of Country that co-writer Ben Johnson brought her the hook before their writing appointment, and it came together quickly after that.

“I wrote the first verse on the way to the writing session, which was kind of crazy,” she tells Evan Paul.

The real-life story of the song happened several years before Arnold introduced himself. She says she and a then-boyfriend had a big fight on Nashville’s Lower Broadway one night. “All My Exes” is a flirty note to an ex, but that didn’t bother her hubs.

“It’s my husband’s favorite. He is the reason this song is out in the world,” she shouts.

Jimmy Gutch and Whitney Phillips are the other two co-writers on “All My Exes.”

The song was written and partially recorded one year before the singer shared it with Chase Matthew.

These two singers met on Jason Aldean‘s tour.

“When he heard it he said, ‘This is a hit. You have to do this song. This could be a really big song for you,'” Alaina recalls her husband sayingh. She was skeptical, because it’s sonically so different than anything she’s released.

He kept pressing. One day on the Aldean tour, he grabbed Matthew’s attention and played him the song. Then he urged Alaina to make it a duet.

“So literally Cameron is the reason that this song got put together, came out into the world,” she shares.

“All My Exes” is from an upcoming project.
