Country music and college football are a match made in heaven. There’s something about a good football game that is made even better with a country soundtrack.<\/p>\n
Fans of the genre tend to be fans of the game, too, and \u2014 as it turns out \u2014\u00a0college football coaches return their\u00a0admiration.<\/p>\n
In 2023, Action Network<\/a>\u00a0surveyed all 133 head coaches in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and asked them who their favorite musician is.<\/p>\n While their answers\u00a0vary from genre to genre, there\u00a0are a whopping\u00a038<\/em> head coaches who\u00a0called out a country\u00a0act as their top choice of music to listen to.<\/p>\n Some of the most popular choices\u00a0on this list?\u00a0George Strait<\/a>, Eric Church<\/a> and Luke Combs<\/a>\u00a0 \u2014 and of course, there’s some home state love for a few artists.<\/p>\n South Carolina’s Shane Beamer\u00a0says\u00a0Darius Rucker<\/a>\u00a0is his favorite artist.<\/p>\n Rucker\u00a0is not only a native of the state, but he’s also an alumnus and a big fan of the Gamecocks.\u00a0The country star also launched his music career while attending the University of South Carolina, when he founded his first band, Hootie &\u00a0the Blowfish.<\/p>\n Lane Kiffin of Ole Miss wasn’t afraid to let his Swiftie flag fly. The coach noted that Taylor Swift<\/a> was his favorite artist.<\/p>\n And while many would argue that Swift is no longer a country artist, we thought we should include her because that’s certainly an interesting choice for a college football head coach.<\/p>\n As far as the rest of the field goes, most of the coaches on this list selected male artists.
