The Alchemist<\/a> has denied that his Erykah Badu<\/a> collaboration album was ever supposed to drop last week.<\/p>\n Most fans as well as Badu appeared to believe the project, titled Abi & Alan<\/em>, was going to be released on Friday (August 29).<\/p>\n But now the legendary producer is denying that was ever the case.<\/p>\n He wrote on X: \u201cPlease show me where i said anything was coming out today.\u201d<\/p>\n Please show me where i said anything was coming out today .<\/p>\n \u2014 Alchemist Type Beat (@Alchemist) August 29, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n After fans posted receipts of Badu hyping the album, Alchemist replied: \u201cThis is not from me. Show me where i ever posted this lol.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cIf you follow me, you know when i got something to drop i make it very clear when its available and where.\u201d<\/p>\n His comments are especially confusing given Badu appeared to be under the impression the project was dropping last week.<\/p>\n In a video statement announcing a delay to the release of the highly anticipated album, she said: \u201cThe Alchemist told me to tell y\u2019all the album is not dropping at midnight.\u201d<\/p>\n A release date for the album has not yet been announced.<\/p>\n Badu and the legendary producer\u00a0first teased a collab back in December 2024<\/a>, when Alc posted a series of photos showing them in the lab.<\/p>\n He captioned the montage \u201cLife altering,\u201d but didn\u2019t elaborate any further as to what they were working on.<\/p>\n The duo later made the album official back in March but details have been scarce about the content of the project.<\/p>\n Erykah Badu\u2019s last studio album was March 2010\u2019s\u00a0New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh)<\/em>, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Later that year she released her first and only compilation album,\u00a0Icon<\/em>, and in 2015, she released her first and only mixtape,\u00a0But You Caint Use My Phone<\/em>.<\/p>\n Since then, the elusive artist has only jumped on a handful of features \u2013 most recently being\u00a0Rapsody<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0 Grammy Award-winning \u201c3:AM<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n The track is an ode to the joys of late night love and features both artists paying homage to the people that make them feel best.<\/p>\n\n
