McDonald\u2019s<\/a> is heading back to the \u201990s<\/p>\n The fast-food giant is bringing out a sense of nostalgia to lure cost-conscious diners.<\/p>\n On Tuesday (Sept. 2), the Golden Arches announced<\/a> it is bringing back Extra Value Meals, the classic bundle first introduced in 1991 that offered savings on an entr\u00e9e, side, and drink.<\/p>\n The deal was discontinued in 2019 \u2014 but starting Monday, Sept. 8, it returns.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are laser-focused on delivering value and affordability to our customers,\u201d commented Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald\u2019s USA,\u00a0per\u00a0<\/em>CNBC<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cI\u2019m incredibly proud of how our franchisees and teams continue to step up<\/a> to make it a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n McDonald\u2019s has been working hard<\/a> over the last year to win back diners feeling the sting of rising costs.<\/p>\n In 2024, the chain introduced its $5 Meal Deal, sparking a value-menu war across fast food.<\/p>\n Then, in early 2025, it rolled out the McValue menu with a buy-one, add-one-for-$1 option.<\/p>\n More recently, The Wall Street Journal<\/em><\/a> reported that McDonald\u2019s executives convinced franchisees to lower prices \u2014 promising the company would help cover the loss.<\/p>\n To kick things off, McDonald\u2019s will roll out seasonal rotating Extra Value Meals this fall:<\/p>\n For longtime fans, the return of Extra Value Meals is about more than saving money \u2014 it\u2019s also a throwback to the original deals that first hit menus in 1991.<\/p>\n Read More:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>McDonald\u2019s Turns Up the Heat With Spicy Breakfast Debut (+ a Burger Bonus)<\/a><\/p>\n Now, McDonald\u2019s is banking on nostalgia<\/a> paired with affordability to bring customers back through the door.<\/p>\n Of all of the side hustles country artists could partake in, opening a bar or restaurant is the most fitting \u2014 and very common.
