\n\tBruce Springsteen<\/a> originally intended the home-recorded, solo-acoustic performances that became Nebraska<\/a><\/em> to be demos for the E Street Band<\/a>, and at New York City\u2019s Power Station studio in 1982, he and the band laid down versions of most of its songs. The so-called Electric Nebraska<\/a> <\/em>versions of the songs have never been heard, even on bootleg \u2014 but Springsteen is about to change that with a new box set, Nebraska \u201982: Expanded Edition<\/em>, due Oct. 17, a week before the Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere<\/a><\/em> hits theaters.<\/p>\n \n\tThe Electric Nebraska <\/em>disc includes E Street Band takes on the album\u2019s material, plus a wildcard \u2014 a wild, guitar-dominated electric version of \u201cBorn in the U.S.A.,\u201d a song that was originally recorded acoustically as part of the Nebraska<\/em> sessions. That track, which features Springsteen playing with only drummer Max Weinberg and bassist Garry Tallent, is available for streaming now. \u201cIt was kind of like punk rockabilly,\u201d Springsteen said in a statement. <\/p>\n
