All (or most) of the \u2018eaves\u2019 emails will be answered in time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tLast week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.morrisseycentral.com\/messagesfrommorrissey\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Morrissey Central<\/a> and the singer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DOJlH-EEYd_\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">official Instagram<\/a> accounts posted an announcement that he was selling the entirety of his business interests in the Smiths. It is unclear if Morrissey created the posts. Reps for Morrissey did not immediately return <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s requests for comment. The posts, titled \u201cA Soul for Sale,\u201d included a quote attributed to the former Smiths frontman that said he was \u201cburnt out by any and all connections\u201d with his former bandmates, and wanted to \u201clive disassociated\u201d from them. He cited that it led him to put his rights to Smiths intellectual property up for sale. The announcement included an email address, which bounced back when <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> reached out for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tUp for grabs, per the announcement, are the \u201cfull and exclusive rights\u201d to the name \u201cThe Smiths\u201d created by Morrissey, all of the Smiths\u2019 artwork created by him, All Smiths merchandising rights, all Smiths songs lyrically and musically, all synchronization rights, all Smiths recordings, and all contractual rights for Smiths publishing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI am burnt out by any and all connections to [Former Smiths members Johnny] Marr, [Andy] Rourke, [Mike] Joyce. I have had enough of malicious associations. I must now protect myself, especially my health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tA rep for Marr did not immediately respond to <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s request for comment regarding the sale announcement. A rep for Joyce said he does not comment on what his former bandmates say or do.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe Smiths broke up in 1987 and Morrissey and Marr have had a tenuous relationship ever since.
