K. Michelle\u2019s dream of releasing a country album<\/a> is finally becoming a reality.<\/p>\n The Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta<\/em> alum has built her career on R&B for more than a decade, but country has always been her first love.<\/p>\n After years of being told no \u2014 and fighting her label every step of the way \u2014 she\u2019s finally getting to make the record she\u2019s always wanted<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cCountry was always my first genre that I did,\u201d Michelle told Us Weekly<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n She explained that her label steered her toward R&B because of the climate of country music at the time.<\/p>\n Read More:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Here Are the 21 Saddest Country Songs by Women, Ranked [Photos]<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI just remember every single album, I fought with my record label, and they would tell me every single album that I finally would get to put out my country album \u2026 and every time, [they would say] it was the next album,\u201d Michelle said.<\/p>\n Eventually, she grew tired and confronted her label. After a tense \u201ctwo-hour meeting,\u201d Michelle stood her ground.<\/p>\n \u201cI said, \u2018No more, no more. I will not be doing that<\/a>. I\u2019m going to be able to release the music that I\u2019m supposed to be releasing,\u2019\u201d the \u201cCan\u2019t Raise a Man\u201d singer recalled.<\/p>\n Fans can hear her country sound now with \u201cJack Daniel\u2019s,\u201d a single she describes as an ode to \u201cthe only man I trust.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s not her first foray into country<\/a>.
