Morgan Wallen<\/a>\u00a0pulled back the curtain on his songwriting and recording process \u2014 and honestly, it\u2019s mesmerizing.<\/p>\n The video clip was shared by a fan Instagram account<\/a>, but it comes from a longer video <\/a>that was originally posted to former NFL\u00a0quarterback Tom Brady’s YouTube channel<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the clip, Wallen walks the room through his songwriting and recording process, explaining, \u201cWe won\u2019t even start a song unless we have a full concept and the payoff hook done at the beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n Once those pieces are in place, the \u201cMore Than My Hometown\u201d singer adds, \u201cThen we\u2019ll start the first verse to write toward that hook.\u201d<\/p>\n Although this is the way Wallen writes most of his music, there are certainly some exceptions to the rule.<\/p>\n In the case of \u201cGenesis,\u201d a track on Wallen\u2019s latest album I\u2019m the Problem<\/em>, he explains that he actually wrote the song backward.<\/p>\n The 2025 CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee says, “I don’t know what the song’s gonna be called, I don’t even know anything other than I had this idea.”<\/p>\n In that instance, Wallen said, \u201cSo we started from the top with no hook \u2014 we wrote the first verse and chorus all the way down until we found the hook: \u2018There was a day Jack and Jill didn\u2019t know me from Adam.\u2019<\/em> You just get all those Garden of Eden ideas, and then you keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n Wallen admits he has plenty of ideas, though not all will make it to a finished song: \u201cI\u2019ve got a zillion ideas in my brain \u2014 a lot of them are terrible,\u201d he jokes.<\/p>\n Let’s not forget that Wallen is still relatively young:\u00a0only 32 years old.
