{"id":46701,"date":"2025-09-16T11:50:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T11:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/16\/revisiting-wonder-woman-lynda-carters-bonkers-kiss-tribute\/"},"modified":"2025-09-16T11:50:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T11:50:08","slug":"revisiting-wonder-woman-lynda-carters-bonkers-kiss-tribute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/16\/revisiting-wonder-woman-lynda-carters-bonkers-kiss-tribute\/","title":{"rendered":"Revisiting &#8216;Wonder Woman&#8217; Lynda Carter&#8217;s Bonkers Kiss Tribute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Ever wanted to watch <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/wonder-woman\/\">Wonder Woman<\/a> cover a <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/kiss\/\">Kiss<\/a> song?<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s exactly what happened on Sept. 16, 1980 when Lynda Carter, still riding high off the success of her starring role in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/wonder-woman-lynda-carter\/\"><em>Wonder Woman<\/em> TV show<\/a>, appeared in <em>Lynda Carter Encore!<\/em>, her second TV variety special.<\/p>\n<p>During a particularly extravagant &#8220;Rock &#8216;n Roll Fantasy&#8221; sequence, Carter performs the <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/bad-company\">Bad Company<\/a> song of the same name, <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/tina-turner\/\">Tina Turner<\/a>&#8216;s version of <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/creedence-clearwater-revival\/\">Creedence Clearwater Revival<\/a>&#8216;s &#8220;Proud Mary,&#8221; Bette Midler&#8217;s &#8220;Friends&#8221; and perhaps most bizarrely, Kiss&#8217; disco-inspired 1979 smash &#8220;I Was Made for Lovin&#8217; You.&#8221; The song was one of the biggest hits of the band&#8217;s career, hitting No. 11 on the <em>Billboard<\/em> Hot 100.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><strong>Watch Lynda Carter Perform &#8216;I Was Made for Lovin&#8217; You&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>How Gene Simmons Returned the Favor By Dressing Like Lynda Carter<\/h3>\n<p>Six years later, Kiss star Gene Simmons appeared in the 1986 movie <em>Never Too Young to Die<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/gene-simmons-lynda-carter\/\">as drag show star Velvet Von Ragner<\/a>. As you can see in the video below, he wore an outfit almost identical to the one Carter wore during her &#8220;I Was Made for Lovin&#8217; You&#8221; performance. &#8220;I didn&#8217;t design it,&#8221; Simmons <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/1980-lynda-wonder-woman-carter-044519357.html\" target=\"_blank\">later explained<\/a>. &#8220;But in retrospect, clearly it was inspired by Lynda&#8217;s Kiss thing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 40 years later, Carter got her first look at Simmons in the outfit. \u201cOh, my goodness! It\u2019s the same outfit!,&#8221; she exclaimed during a 2024 interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lyndsanity.com\/music\/lynda-carter-on-her-wondrous-music-career-from-that-bonkers-disco-kiss-spectacle-to-having-a-hit-at-age-72\/\">Lyndsanity<\/a>. &#8220;I just saw it. It\u2019s just so good. He\u2019s so fabulous \u2014 Gene Simmons dresses as Lynda C., for a change! Oh, Gene, you\u2019re just too great.
