\n\tCuco<\/a> turned Mexican Independence Day into a cumbia celebration Monday night at the Greek Theatre. The Chicano soul star lit up the sold-out Los Angeles venue in green, white, and red, as fans swayed and sang along to his unexpected dive into cumbia classics.<\/p>\n

\n\tMidway through the show, Cuco loosened things up with his cumbia-inspired 2021 one-off \u201cUnder the Sun\u201d before surprising the crowd by pulling out the g\u00fcira for a rendition of \u201cLlorar,\u201d the standard by Los Socios del Ritmo. The energy jumped again when he transitioned into \u201cLa Negra Tomasa,\u201d the Caifanes anthem that had the audience on its feet.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI gotta tell you how many cumbia parties I\u2019ve been to,\u201d Cuco said onstage. \u201cY\u2019all, I never realized how hard it is to sing that song, \u2018Llorar,\u2019 it\u2019s a lot of tongue twisters for me. But that is fun as fuck to play. I hope you guys enjoyed that shit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe star took the time to celebrate some of the deluxe standouts on Ridin\u2019<\/em>, making way for \u201cSin un Coraz\u00f3n\u201d from the extended project. Earlier in the evening, Cuco welcomed Jean Carter to perform their collab \u201cBossa No S\u00e9,\u201d and also a rendition of \u201cMy 45\u201d from his recent project, Ridin<\/em>, which Rolling Stone<\/em> lauded last month.<\/p>\n
