There are 48 performances in the collection that have never been released. There will also be a 2CD\/4LP \u201cHighlights\u201d edition with 42 tracks. For a preview, check out \u201cRocks and Gravel\u201d from the 1962 <em>Freewheelin\u2019 Bob Dylan<\/em> sessions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tPrinceton historian Sean Wilentz contributed a 125-page essay to the collection. \u201cOf that time and those places, this collection is just a fragment,\u201d Wilentz says in a statement, \u201cEven so, as an aural record of an artist becoming himself\u2014or in Dylan\u2019s case, his first of many artistic selves\u2014the collection aims to collapse time and space, not as a nostalgic reverie but as a living connection between the past and the present, the old and the new, which are never as distinct as we might think.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bob Dylan \u2014 6th September, 1961. But they\u2019ve all received significant audio upgrades from new tape sources. And many of them have never even circulated in fan communities. \u201cLiverpool Gal\u201d is especially noteworthy since it\u2019s an original tune that\u2019s never been released, and most fans have never even heard. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe set begins with a teenage Dylan singing \u201cLet The Good Times Roll\u201d at Terlinde Music Shop in St. Paul, Minnesota, on December 24, 1956.
